Objective:
The primary objective of Veggie Fest is to introduce children to a variety of green vegetables and fruits in a fun, engaging, and interactive way. This event is designed to cultivate a love for healthy eating from an early age by making greens exciting and approachable. We aim to help children develop a positive relationship with vegetables and understand their role in maintaining a healthy body as a gift from Allah.
Purpose:
As spring brings life and color back to the world, we help children observe how living beings are born and grow. Through this, we highlight the Quranic concept that Allah brings life after death—just as He revives the earth after winter. The day is filled with moments that connect these observable life cycles to deeper Islamic understanding.
“الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ”
“He who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.”
(Surah Al-Mulk, Ayah 2)
Activities:
- Observing Animal Life Cycles: Children meet animals like ducklings or baby goats and learn how they are born and grow.
- Visual Demonstrations: Teachers show visuals and stories of different stages of life in animals, such as eggs turning into chicks or caterpillars into butterflies.
- Hands-on Exploration: Children use magnifying glasses to examine and draw what they see, documenting Allah’s intricate creation.
- Discussion Circles: Teachers connect every observation to the power and mercy of Allah, helping children see the spiritual significance of life around them.
Outcome:
This single-day experience leaves a lasting impression. Children learn to recognize the beauty and purpose in Allah’s design, develop love and respect for all living beings, and carry with them the understanding that life itself is a gift and a test from the Creator.
